Success Is A Project That Is Always Under Construction

Our demonstrated capability, excellence and highly professional approach have allowed us to work on an extensive range of landmark projects within Western Australia, in partnership with a diverse range of companies.

The Project team at Karak Construction were involved in successfully completing the following projects.

FMG Christmas Creek 

Karak Construction have recently been welcomed onto Kurungal Country to undertake the construction of a Lube bay facility on behalf of Parc Engineering and FMG Christmas Creek OPF.

 

The works consisted of civil earthworks and Concrete Form, Reo and Pour to create concrete hardstands for container set down, wash out pits, and workshop slabs.


Karak Construction would like to extend our gratitude to PARC Engineering Pty Ltd and FMG teams for their invaluable support in ensuring the safe, timely, and budget-conscious completion of this project.

Bilya Koort Boodja - Centre for Nyoongar Culture and Environmental Knowledge

The Bilya Koort Boodja Centre for Nyoongar Culture and Environmental Knowledge is located in the Shire of Northam on the foreshore of the Avon River in Northam’s CBD.

 

This regional tourist attraction offers an interactive educational experience that recognises the rich Aboriginal and environmental presence in the Nyoongar Ballardong region. The Centre will protect, celebrate and share the culture of the Nyoongar people and highlight land management practices that draws upon the knowledge of the land’s traditional custodians.

Ningaloo Visitors Centre

The management team at Karak were involved with the construction of the Ningaloo Visitor Centre.

 

Yinikutira, also recorded as the Jinigudira, are the traditional Aboriginal owners of the Country along the Ningaloo Coast in the area of the Exmouth Peninsula in Western Australia now known as the Cape Range National Park. The area is within the Gascoyne region.

The Ningaloo Visitors Centre is one of the largest buildings in Exmouth and a major community infrastructure investment for the region. It is a multi-purpose building designed to connect the local community with the foreshore and its stories.

BHP Port Headland Wind Fences

BHP Port Headland Wind Fences

The leadership team at Karak were involved with the construction of BHP Port Hedland Wind Fences.

The scope of work included all bulk earthworks, detailed excavation, Form, Reinforcement, Installation and Concrete pouring / pumping for the Wind fence footings and plinths.

FMG Cloudbreak - 251 Culvert Headwall

The leadership team at Karak were involved with the construction of 251 Culvert Headwall.

The scope of work included all bulk earthworks, detailed excavation, Form, Reinforcement Installation and Concrete pouring / pumping for a series of Culvert Headwalls mitigate washout of MG main line to Port Headland.

Gudai-Darri  - Airport Terminal

Western Australia’s newest airport has opened at Gudai-Darri iron ore project in the Pilbara where construction is progressing ahead of the expected production ramp-up in early 2022.

The facility can accept a range of different aircraft including Boeing 737’s, A320’s, F100’s and King Airs. The current flight schedule includes four flights a week with additional flights expected to be added to the schedule next year. The airport is expected to handle more than 600 workers in a day at peak operating times.

The airport will deliver significant benefits in terms of minimising employees interaction with vehicles and driving as well as helping to manage employee fatigue thanks to a significant reduction in travel time from an alternate regional airport. The airport will also provide a safer landing option for Rio Tinto’s long-standing partner the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Rail Operations Facility at Cape Lambert

The leadership team at Karak were involved with the construction of Rail Operations Facility at Cape Lambert.

 

The head contract was a DNC contract, whereby all project stakeholders worked closely with Rio Tinto / Calibre to build this Rail Operations and Vehicle Inspections facility.

EPCM – Operations Offices - Cape Lambert 

The leadership team at Karak were involved with the construction of the EPCM – Operations Office for Calibre.

 

The scope of work was to deliver Calibre’s transportable site offices at the mining site of Cape Lambert (WA). Delivered under a D&C contract, the team successfully managed the transportation and installation of the pre-fabricated offices from Perth to Cape Lambert.

Trip Services Facility – Cape Lambert

The leadership team at Karak were involved with the construction of this Train Refueller facility at Cape Lambert.

The scope of work included all bulk earthworks, detailed excavation, form, reinforcement installation and concrete pouring, along with a new build structure of locomotive trip services and a refuelling facility. Consisting of the construction of a new locomotive shed; installation of foundations and plinths for eight 110 kl diesel fuel tanks; pipe reticulation rack footings, Pipe Bridge foundations and footings in close proximity to rail corridor, oily water separator, water treatment and tailing ponds plinths, pads, foundations, and associated earthworks.

Granary Drive Bridge, Muchea

Granary Drive

The leadership team at Karak were involved with the construction of Granary Drive Bridge, Muchea.

The scope of work included all bulk earthworks, detailed excavation, Form, Reinforcement Installation and Concrete pouring of this bridge structure at Granary Drive, Muchea. The works had to be carried out during the dry season as this was a low-lying bridge and very susceptible to flooding in the wet winter months. The bulk earthworks were critical path to enable the piling rig to gain access into the riverbed area to auger CFA piles prior to the commencement of the constriction of the Abutments and Bridge Piers. Initially the bridge was designed to utilise precast planks, however due to the lead times, the client changed to an in-situ design. Karak had to change and manage the structure very closely to ensure adherence to specifications and QA /QC.
